Gordon Castle and its Estate are situated in one of Scotland’s finest sporting estates nestled in beautiful Speyside, in the heart of the whisky country of the Highlands of Scotland. A stretch of the Spey River runs through the Estate which boasts some of the best salmon fishing in the world.
The Castle is available for exclusive-hire use for a range of events including gatherings, parties, corporate retreats, weddings and banquets. The Estate also has a selection of beautiful cottages which are available for exclusive-hire with the Castle or can be rented separately.
Gordon Castle’s ancient tower, manicured grounds and magnificent eight acre Walled Garden make it the perfect setting for a wonderful Scottish retreat.
The Estate is situated 40 miles from Inverness Airport and 57 miles from Aberdeen Airport.
Completed as one of Scotland’s largest houses in the 1770’s by the Duke of Gordon, Gordon Castle is the spiritual home of the House of Gordon, one of Scotland’s oldest families.
The Castle was used during the Great War as an auxiliary hospital for soldiers returning from the front and was then sold back to the Crown in 1938 following successive deaths leaving the family with unmanageable death duties to pay. It fell into disrepair before being ‘rescued’ by war hero and much loved soldier Lieutenant General Sir George Gordon Lennox (grandson of the 7th Duke of Richmond and Gordon) after World War Two. The family have lovingly restored the Castle and this work is continued to this day by Angus Gordon Lennox, the grandson of Sir George, and his wife Zara.
