Lismore Castle is situated in County Waterford near the south coast of Ireland. The Castle is available for exclusive-hire use for a range of events including family gatherings, celebrations, business retreats or as a film location.
The surrounding Estate includes woodland, grassy fields, floodplains and the Castle also overlooks the beautiful Blackwater River.
The Estate is situated 64 km from Cork Airport, 75km from Waterford Airport. Shannon and Dublin Airports are approximately a 2 hour drive away each.
Lismore Castle was built in 1185 by the soon-to-be King of England, Prince John. Upon ascending the throne, it was passed to the Church & became a Bishop’s Palace complete with a Round Tower.
Both Sir Walter Raleigh & the first Earl of Cork have resided here and since 1753 the Castle has been owned by Duke of Devonshire’s family. The Castle has attracted famous guests to stay including Fred Astaire, John F. Kennedy, John Betjeman & Lucian Freud.
Each generation has lovingly and extensively restored the castle, while maintaining its historic charm. The Duke of Devonshire & his family often also reside at Lismore contributing to the authentic & personal feel guests experience when staying.
