The first evidence of the existence of the Uglione Castle is an act of the year 1127, where the castle is included in the list of the sites included in a gift to Florence's bishop.
The historic castle was sold during the war between the Guelphs and Ghibellines, after the Imperial troops had passed. Lapo Machiavelli of Florence bought it from the brothers Guidello and Christian di Salvello of Uglione. It included two lots of land and a third lot with the tower of Uglione.
The castle was also the residence of the very famous Taddeo, son of the well-known judge Baldo, the “Villan d'Uglione”, who is mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy.
This estate is set on a private hilltop starting at the grand remote controlled iron gate. You enter the property along the driveway which brings you to the Villa at the top. The park-like grounds have been beautifully landscaped with plants and trees which are illuminated at night to create a beautiful atmosphere in any season of the year.
The main Villa has a surface of 400m2, another building with a tower of 200m2, and a spa of 80m2 for a total living area of 680m2. The property is surrounded by more than one hectare of grounds: garden, pool, terraces, lawn with fruit-trees, olive grove and wood.
