With emerald beaches and clear blue skies, Ibiza (Eivissa in Catalan), well-known for its nightlife, is situated in the Balearic Archipel. With a population of 75,000 over a 54,122 km2 surface, the island boasts a long 210 km of pristine coastline.
Many people visit the island purely to experience the infamous Mediterranean macro-clubs, such as Blue Marlin and Lio Ibiza Club—both experiences in themselves—, however Ibiza is much more than a clubbing hub. Up in the moderately unspoilt northeast you can find thick woods of pine trees. The island was once named by the Greeks ‘Islas Pitiusas’ (Islands of Pine Trees) and with more than half the island covered in abundant woods of these, this is a natural phenomenon that can’t be missed. Away from the main resorts and towns, Ibiza is actually a charming rural island. Coastal walking trails, dense woods and quiet, if not deserted, beaches allow you explore the islands beauty without the hustle and bustle of party-goers.
A visit to one of Ibiza’s famous Hippy Markets is a must or maybe a trip to Ibiza Town to walk through the romantic medieval castle that is Dalt Vila. Can Marça Caves with breath-taking sea views as you descend steeply to the entrance are something you will never forget, or follow the likes of others and party hard among the white beaches and starry nights.
